in the Clouds. At a John Jorgenson Quintet performance, audiences are amazed by
John's dazzling guitar work as well as his mastery as a clarinet player and
vocalist. Whether playing his own accessible compositions or classic standards,
John and his band make music that is equally romantic and ecstatic, played with
virtuosity and soul. John Jorgenson is known as one of the pioneers of the

Butch Hancock

Artist Website

Legendary Texas songwriter Butch Hancock has been
one of the pivotal figures in Texas maverick Country and Folk music for over 30
years. Rolling Stone magazine described him as "a raspy-voiced West Texas
mystic with an equal affinity for romantic border balladry and Zen paradox."
Along with Lubbock bred childhood pals Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch
Hancock has been active in their group work as The Flatlanders. As a member of
the groundbreaking Flatlanders, Hancock helped kick-start the progressive
country movement of the '70s. As a solo artist, Hancock recorded a series of
country-folk albums for his own independent Rainlight label, which showcased his
literate wordplay, quirky humor, and dry, Dylan-esque vocal delivery. He is a
member of the Buddy Holly Walk of Fame and the Texas Music Hall of Fame.

Rick Estrin & the
Nightcats |
www.rickestrin.com |
Blues singer/harmonica player/songwriter Rick Estrin
ranks among the very best harp players in the blues world. His work on the reeds
is at once deep in the tradition of harmonica masters Sonny Boy Williamson II
and Little Walter Jacobs while at the same time pushing that tradition forward.
The Associated Press called his harp playing, "endlessly impressive." For more
than 30 years and nine albums, Rick fronted the jumping, swinging Little Charlie
& The Nightcats and now Estrin -- along with the Nightcats longtime rhythm
section of J. Hansen and Lorenzo Farrell and fiery guitarist Kid Andersen –
Estrin takes the lead on his own. Rick Estrin & The Nightcats' sound, is a
harmonica-driven, rocking, guitar-fueled rave-up. The band performs the
well-known, well-loved songs from Estrin's massive catalog, and will introduce
plenty of new material along the way.

James McMurtry &
the Heartless Bastards |

Over the past two decades Austin, Texas’ James
McMurtry has put out the best roots rockin’ serious songwriting recordings you
can find. His character studies and astute observations of the American social
landscape are as good as you’ll find anywhere in music. The Texas native long
has been known as an astute, clear-eyed observer and concise, no-holds-barred
chronicler of the human condition, but a growing socio-political edge fairly
exploded just prior to the 2004 elections when his scathing, palace-rattling
“We Can’t Make It Here”, a
seven-plus-minute diatribe against social injustice and the Administration’s
hypocrisy and deceptions was made available online as a free download. He’s also
one of the great roots-rock tunesmiths today, writing wholly listenable songs
that only get better with repeated listening. Oh did we mention his stunning
electric guitar playing too? He does that great too…

Legendary bluegrass mandolinist Roland White is
joined by four of California’s top players. Roland White was the founder, with
brother Clarence White, of the early 60’s bluegrass favorites The Kentucky
Colonels. The Colonels were a popular part of the bluegrass circuit until the
rock circuit took over. At that point brother Clarence joined The Byrds, while
Roland eventually landed a spot with Bill Monroe as guitar player. Since then
Roland played mandolin with Lester Flatt’s group Nashville Grass and then
eventually reunited with brother Clarence. More recently was Roland’s nine year
stint with the quintessentially professional Nashville Bluegrass Band from 1989
through the late 90’s. Still active with his own band, this evening White will
be joined by fiddler Laurie Lewis, Keith Little on banjo, Jim Nunally on guitar

Fred Eaglesmith |

Canadian Fred Eaglesmith's music has been described
by reviewers as a "blend of aching country and barroom rock" and a "mixture of
hard-edged honky-tonk balanced between rock'n'roll and early '60s country
music." His dynamic live shows are "exactly like the sort of music you dream of
hearing in some crowded, hot, beery bar near closing time… a truly timeless
brand of primitive rock'n'roll," says Amazon.com. Eaglesmith is also known as a
between-song raconteur whose pointed and illuminating storytelling and comedic
skills are as sharp as his songwriting. Eaglesmith writes "songs that rattle
around in your head like empty beer bottles in the back of a pickup," as one
critic puts it. He has won a Juno Award — the Canadian Grammy — for Best Roots &
Traditional Album and a Canadian Independent Music Award for Folk/Roots Album of
the Year. "It is not an overstatement to say that Eaglesmith is one of the
finest songwriters in this country," says the New Brunswick Daily Gleaner. "His
canon of well over 1000 songs is stunning." His latest album, Tinerbox, is
Fred’s 17th.
